TCP
Transmission Control Protocol

TCP is a protocol that allows applications to make connections to each other. This connection guarantees that the packets sent will be received in order from the sender.

Most of what we do on the Internet supports TCP/IP, such as surfing the web and checking our Email. The average user will have to do nothing to configure TCP, just understand that it is the process that packets are chopped up and sent to a source in a reliable method.

In regards to the OSI model in networking, TCP resides on the Transport level.
