Misspelling of "owned," a popular saying in first person shooter and online multi-player games when you have been completely destroyed in an embarrassing fashion. Pwned has seem to transcend the online gaming media and is now emerging as an actual slang word in the geek language.

We now see pwned on T-shirts as geeks hammer away on each other during online computer gaming tournaments.
