LAN Local Area Network

A LAN is a collection of computers and other hardware in a small geographic location.

Local Area Networks are generally comprised of Ethernet (wired) or WiFi (wireless) devices in a home of small office. A LAN can be as little as a couple of PCs or numerous switches and routers.

LANs can have fast data rates between machines, depending on the equipment and are popular among gamers who have LAN parties. A LAN party consists of numerous PCs on a local network enjoying low PING rates and playing games.
